Summer is here! That means it’s time to review our past year of confirmation and see how we make next year even better. Below is our basic outline of what you can expect for confirmation for the 2016-2017 school year. 

Confirmation Ministry

Our confirmation ministry is designed as a 3-year program for the youth of our congregation. This ministry exists to teach the faith and prepare Christians for a lifelong study and growth in God’s Word. The program is designed as follows:

6th Grade – Introduction to Luther’s Small Catechism

7th Grade – Walk Through the Bible

8th Grade – Deeper Study of Luther’s Small Catechism, focusing on application to the life of a Christian


The When and What of Confirmation

Confirmation classes will begin with our Sunday School Kick-off on Sunday, September 13th.
6th Grade Confirmation

Sundays, 9:30a-10:30a

Location: Room 16

Topic:  Introduction to Luther’s Small Catechism

7th Grade Confirmation

Sundays, 9:30a-10:30a

Location: Room 18

Topic:  Walk Through the Bible

8th Grade Confirmation

Topic:  Deeper Study of Luther’s Small Catechism, focusing on application to the life of a Christian

7:00p-8:00p (Parents attend these sessions with their child)

Location: Luther Hall

Topic: Luther’s Small Catechism in the Life of a Christian

The Monday class will meet on the following evenings:

October 2, 9, 16, 23, 30

January 8, 15, 29

All confirmation students are expected to:

  • Attend Worship 75% of the time
  • Attend Sunday School 75% of the time
  • Complete homework and memory work assignments by due dates
  • Faithfully serve as acolytes (7th and 8th graders)
  • Participate in Camp Lutherhaven Retreat.

In addition, 8th Grade students are expected to:

  • Attend Monday night class 75% of the time
  • Turn in Sermon notes to Tommy Moll 75% of the time
  • Write and deliver a witness speech
  • Complete 1 hour of service with a St. Michael Ministry
  • Complete 1 hour of service in the community


6th Grade

    • Bible (ESV preferred)
    • Luther’s Small Catechism w/Explanation, 1991 Edition (ESV), CPH, 2008. 

7th Grade

    • Bible (ESV preferred) 

8th Grade

  • Bible (ESV preferred).
  • Luther’s Small Catechism w/Explanation, 1991 Edition (ESV), CPH, 2008. 
  • Three-ring binder at least 1″
Please let us know if your child doesn’t have a Bible as we will be able to provide one. 

Other Important Dates (8th Grade)

October 13-15 – Confirmation Retreat at Camp Lutherhaven

Meet at church 5:30p on October 13. Eat before you come. We leave right at 6:00p.

April 30 – Confirmation Examination

7:00 pm – 8 pm


May 7 – Practice and Pictures

7:00 pm – 8 pm           
May 20 – Confirmation Sunday
